Our Commitment
Vanish Skincare is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all customers, including those with disabilities. We believe everyone deserves equal access to our products, content, and services — regardless of ability or the assistive technology they use.
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This is the standard referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice in ADA enforcement guidance and cited in the majority of ADA Title III digital accessibility proceedings. We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we are actively working to improve conformance across our site.
Applicable Laws & Regulations
This statement is made in recognition of our obligations under the following legal frameworks:
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title III
Prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in places of public accommodation. Federal courts have consistently held that commercial e-commerce websites qualify as places of public accommodation under Title III (42 U.S.C. § 12182).
DOJ Web Accessibility Guidance (March 2022)
The U.S. Department of Justice has affirmed that the ADA applies to websites and that WCAG serves as the applicable technical standard for effective communication and equal access.
California Unruh Civil Rights Act (Cal. Civ. Code § 51)
Independently prohibits disability-based discrimination by business establishments, including digital storefronts accessible to California residents.
New York State Human Rights Law & Civil Rights Law
Prohibits disability discrimination in digital commerce accessible to New York residents, with potential for statutory damages.
Florida Civil Rights Act (Fla. Stat. § 760)
As a Florida-based business, Vanish Skincare is subject to Florida's prohibition on disability discrimination in places of public accommodation.
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act
Referenced as a best-practices framework for digital accessibility standards.
Accessibility Features
We have implemented or are actively implementing the following measures on our website:
- Alternative text: All non-decorative images include descriptive alt text for screen reader compatibility.
- Keyboard navigation: All site functionality is accessible via keyboard without requiring a mouse.
- Focus indicators: Visible focus indicators show which element has keyboard focus.
- Color contrast: Text and interactive elements aim to meet the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text.
- Form labels: All form fields include appropriate labels for screen reader compatibility.
- Descriptive links: Link text is written to clearly describe the purpose or destination of each link.
- Heading structure: Pages use a logical heading hierarchy (H1–H6) to support screen reader navigation.
- Zoom support: The website supports browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Reduced motion: Animations are minimized for users who have indicated a preference for reduced motion.
- Video controls: Video content includes pause controls and is being evaluated for closed captioning requirements.
Active Remediation
We conducted a full accessibility audit of our storefront and are actively working through all identified issues. The following items are currently in remediation:
- Adding descriptive alt text to all product images across our full catalog. (Complete)
- Reviewing and improving color contrast ratios across all pages and UI elements. (In Progress)
- Auditing keyboard navigability across all interactive elements, including menus, variant selectors, forms, and checkout. (In Progress)
- Ensuring all form inputs have explicit label associations and descriptive error messages. (In Progress)
- Reviewing heading hierarchy across all pages for logical, non-decorative structure. (In Progress)
- Evaluating all video content for closed captioning and audio description requirements. (Identified)
- Reviewing third-party app integrations for their accessibility conformance and impact on our store. (Identified)
This remediation log is updated as work is completed and serves as documentation of our active, ongoing compliance program.
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some areas of our website may not yet fully conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are transparently disclosing these known limitations as part of our good-faith compliance effort:
- Some product images may not yet have descriptive alt text while we work through our full catalog systematically.
- Certain third-party application components integrated into our store may introduce accessibility issues outside of our direct code control. We are actively engaging vendors on remediation.
- Some video content may not yet have full closed captions. All video assets are being assessed.
If you encounter a barrier not listed here, please contact us — we treat all accessibility feedback as a priority.
